Justin Amash Introduces Legislation to Curb Presidential Power During a National Emergency
As our country continues to battle through a worldwide health pandemic that has crippled our economy Congress continues to drag their feet.
Congressman Justin Amash has introduced legislation that would limit presidential emergency powers. “Laws like the National Emergencies Act are not—and, under our Constitution, cannot be—grants of legislative powers to the president. Too often, emergencies are being invoked without appropriate justification, and the transition of power back to Congress isn’t happening,” writes Justin Amash in his National Emergencies Reform Act.
