It is sad to see that an incoming Congresswomen from the Great State of Colorado claims to defend and protect the Constitution, but fails to even understand how it works.
About 5 minutes ago she tweeted out the following:
Sorry to say Congresswomen-Elect, but the states get to decide how to seat electors. Let us refresh your memory with a passage from the United States Constitution:
Each State shall appoint, in such Manner as the Legislature thereof may direct, a Number of Electors, equal to the whole Number of Senators and Representatives to which the State may be entitled in the Congress; but no Senator or Representative, or person holding an Office of Trust or Profit under the United States shall be appointed an Elector.Article II, Section 1, Clauses 2 and 3 of the United States Constitution
Therefore, the State of Michigan allocates their electoral votes to the candidate that receives the majority of votes. Then, the party that wins seats their electors who then cast their votes for President and Vice-President. Because the Republicans lost the election, they are not permitted to seat their electors per the Constitution and the laws of Michigan.
You might need to do some light reading over the Christmas break before you are sworn in next month.
