The Supreme Court: The Only Lasting Legacy of the Trump Administration

The 2020 election is just over a week away and all polls are indicating a sweeping Joe Biden victory over the sitting President, Donald Trump. Over the past four years there has been a wealth of tension that has been created by the vulgar nature of President Trump and these rising tensions are coming to a head on November 3rd. Hundreds of reports suggest the disgust that inside members of the Republican have for the President has risen over the four years.

President Trump won’t be remembered for much. His claims of a prosperous four years have been over shadowed by the COVID-19 pandemic and his inability to handle the outbreak as well over 200,000 Americans have died from the virus.

However, there will be on legacy that will have a dramatic impact on this country and one that will be remembered for the next few decades. The Trump Supreme Court.

In his Presidency Donald Trump has appointed 2 Justices and is on the verge of having his third confirmed by the United States Senate as early as tomorrow.

The appointments of Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh were historic in their own nature and put young conservative judges on the court that would shape the debate for decades. Now with the inevitable confirmation of Amy Coney Barrett the conservative legacy will be cemented for decades.

Trump campaigned in 2016 on the promise that he would appoint the best judges to the federal bench and specifically the Supreme Court. This has been the one promise fulfilled and kept by the President. He has used the advice of conservative and libertarian leaders in his administration to fill the federal bench with some of the most conservative and libertarian minds in the legal field.

Amy Coney Barrett will change the makeup of the court dramatically as she replaces the liberal icon Ruth Bader Ginsburg. The balance of the court will shift and the only hope that liberal leaders in Washington have is that Biden wins the election and something happens to the aging Clarence Thomas.

Trump will not be remembered for much after he leaves office. Most will be negative as he is hit by historians for the COVID-19 response, his impeachment by the House, and a damaged economy. However, his image will be etched on the federal bench and more specifically the Supreme Court.
