Justin Amash’s Biggest Hurdle Running as a Libertarian? Libertarians!

The speculation behind Justin Amash running for President has sparked interest and excitement in many Libertarian circles. The prospect of having a candidate run for the Libertarian Party that has a proven track record and speaks well for himself is drawing some Libertarians together.

However, Justin Amash has a big hurdle to overcome if he decides to run as a Libertarian. That hurdle is Libertarians themselves.

Libertarians are known for eating their own, especially if someone is not pure enough. The everyday Libertarian is the one excited for the prospect of an Amash candidacy in their party, but the hardcore party faithful tends to have a different viewpoint on outsiders coming into the party and trying to take over.

What these party insiders don’t understand is that the Libertarian Party is full of ex-republicans that have been cast aside by their party for their Libertarian beliefs and eventually find a home in the Libertarian Party.

The Libertarians that will find some type of opposition to Amash need to realize now that this is one candidate that has the potential to spread the Libertarian message to a mass audience. He is not one of the wackos (Vermin Supreme) that will run for the parties nomination and make the party the laughing stock of American Politics. Yes, every party has its unique characters but the Libertarians make it seem too easy when it comes to who they allow to run for President.

Justin Amash brings a strong Mises Caucus presence to the race in the Libertarian Party if he decides to run under our party banner. He is the purest Libertarian in Congress and will be the purest in the party if he decides to run.

  1. It was easier to vote for Trump than Johnson. It sure as hell easier (in 2020) to vote for Trump than Macaffee. Amash? I’m not sure if he won’t look like Barr and a few others.

    • If you claim to be libertarian and voted for trump In 2016 ok, if you claim to be libertarian and are voting for Trump in 2020 you are a liar.

      • I voted for Johnson. It wasn’t easy. (I think better people ran and lost. Dr Ruwart, etc). Even though I like Adam K as a person, I hope he doesn’t get the nom. I just wish the Party had folks that weren’t “con-light” that were feasible candidates. (I’m not fond of the crossover types). I feel you on the “liar” element.

  2. A credible candidate just like Johnson was. I’d be happy to vote for anyone the party puts forward if they genuinely believe in the basic principles of liberty, they have political background to match the position and they are honest and decent human beings. We cannot sweat the small stuff when voting. We cannot afford to “eat our own”. The world is burning down around us because of Marxist take-over of everything and we need to WIN.

  3. Explain your “Mises Caucus” reference. Do you see the Mises Caucus as “libertarian republicans?” They fancy themselves anarcho-capitalists, which Amash surely is not.
